Lydia’s story

Lydia

My name is Lydia Njeri Kinyua and I am the founder of Ngamwaza Children Support Center that was started in 2003. It provides for orphans and vulnerable children in Ongata Rongai in Kenya Kajiado district. It started after I saw children abandoned and neglected after their parents died of HIV/AIDS without anyone taken care of them.

I hold a nursery school teacher degree, a degree in psychology advisory, certified trainers in issues related to HIV and AIDS, as well as a degree in theology.
I have acquired my knowledge in handling vulnerable children that I acquired through participation in seminars on orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
Currently we take care of 50 underprivileged children. We provide them with food, clothing, basic training, love and care including spiritual inspiration. Children are at the Centre from morning to night. The rest of the time is with her, mostly elderly, relatives who take care of them is not at the Centre.
